About The Gillies Foundation
With over 100 active rescue groups in Victoria, the need for support is immense. These organisations assist pet owners facing homelessness, illness, or economic distress, ensuring they don’t have to surrender their animals. Our foundation provides the critical funding that keeps these vital community services running. Some groups focus on senior cats and dogs, as well as animals with disabilities such as amputation, blindness and so the list goes on.
Founded in 2023, our mission is to support the remarkable groups that extend care to vulnerable animals, ensuring they receive the protection and compassion they deserve.
Making a Difference
The Gillies Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening animal rescue across Victoria by providing financial support to the organisations that care for vulnerable companion animals. We believe that when rescue groups have the resources they need, more animals receive the protection, treatment and second chances they deserve.
Calling all companion animal rescues!
The Gillies Foundation Award for Exemplary Commitment to Companion Animal Rescue will be awarded to an Australian Rescue Group that has demonstrated exemplary commitment towards the protection, care and well-being of vulnerable companion animals at risk in the community in the previous period (2025-26).
🏆 The winner will receive a bespoke, hand-blown glass award mounted on
an Australian native timber base, and a $10,000 grant from The Gillies
Foundation to fund similar work.
The award funded by The Gillies Foundation will only consider nominees whose work is legal under state and national laws applicable at the time.
